Nostril vents on Ghia - bugs central!

So I had a lovely drive this weekend from Swindon to Barnstaple and all round North Devon ... but after a long drive in the sun with the air vents fully open, my shirt was like a fly's graveyard

The little flies are going straight through the Ghia's nostrils and into the car. I guess the solution is to pull the nostrils off and put some fine mesh in there.

The question is - do I simply pull the nostrils out? I am waiting for a service manual to arrive in the post courtesy of Amazon, so don't have a reference to hand.

Advice on how best to stop the summer flies through air vents greatly appreciated :D

The nostrils should have securing screws if you look through the front of them.

Also, there should already be a mesh behind the grills. If it's had resto work, then there's a good chance these were left out.

Ah, I didn't spot the screws the other day. Will take another look. There is a mesh under there, but it's not particularly fine - might keep the bees and wasps out, but a lot of little bugs will still get through. Time to get some fine mesh on there :)
As it happens, I have a pair of Ghia grilles on the passenger seat of my car this morning. :)

They're each secured on by a single screw on the inner edge between 2 of the fins. Be gentle when removing the grilles as they're made of aluminium (or similar alloy) and are very soft.
once you have removed the grill and the mesh behind the grill (same shape as nostril) you will have access to the rectangular opening the feeds the air into the car. From the factory there was an very fine basket shape mesh that fitted into this rectangle that would catch all the little beaties........guess this has either disintegrated as mine have - or have been left out during some resto work as tomarse said......easy to by some fine mesh asn shape some new ones yourself...

cheers.
