ive just done a fresh xp install on a new partition......the rest of the drive has the remnants on the old os and general files......ive tried to re format the partition but it wont let me.....what am i doing wrong

fuck me that was quick

it just says unable to complete format.....i thought it may be some write protection as it has documents from the last build i cant access......i really just want to wipe the section of the disk ;)

yes but it wont let me do anything to the drive.....the format button isnt high lighted

Then there are system files still on there, xp wont let you format if it thinks there are system files still on the drive.
do you have a dos boot disc? if so do it from that!


IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you are formating the correct drive.

Have you been to the drive manufacturers website?

They usually have a formatting/partitioning tool that runs from a floppy.
