I have installed a 1641 engine with a 32/36 weber carb in a '72
bay. Question: The vacuum return pipes fron carb to fuel tank: is it
necessary to keep them or can they now be discarded and blocked off?

Thanks.

Mike. :)

I don't think you mean vacuum lines.
There were vapour recovery hoses and canister
for emission control which looked like:

(Item #7 which looks like a hair dryer is actually the fan shroud!)

The system also provides venting for the tank. Without some
kind of vent, pressure will build in the tank on hot days and
the fuel pump will attempt to collapse the tank from vacuum.
