Well done for doing the course though!
Congratulations!

I've today passed my Firstaid at work!

I'm a qualified first aider.

The CPR is now 30:2

is that the change ?

used to be 5:1 or 15:2 ?
Mrs M.I.B is training to be a doctor at Barts.

Today they had to do a first aid lesson!!!!!!

Yesterday it was spinal nerves, and the day before it was nerves of the arms and hands. Then today first aid!!!

barking mad.

Being a doctor is all about second and third aid!

yep.

They've done research and all that jazz and the compressions help to get the air in and out the lungs so the breaths aren't as important. I also think that you used to give them breaths first then compressions but now it is straight into compressions.

that's really quite a change !

I'm 'Emergency First Responder' trained (part of my PADI rescue diver thingy) but there's obviously no update process apart from when you do your 3 yearly (?) refresher I suppose
 I done it this year and it was still 15:2,

I wish they would leave it alone, all it does is lead to confusion.
It changed august 1st (but for paramedics it was 1st Jan)

about 2 years ago i found a bloke who'd had a heart attack in his car i pulled him out of his car and carried out mouth to mouth on him on the pavement amazingly i remembered the 15:2 from scouts when i was 14 im 37 now, no matter how or what ever first aid your taught it sticks with you for a long time

quick tip buy one of those pipe things you put in the mouth and down the wind pipe cos the contents of their stomach come up when they breath out and kissing dead person is bad enough but one covered in puke is another thing altogether

 whatever :p

thats not what I was told tho  :moon:
I'm sure if some one had stopped breathing and you helped them they are really not going to care whether you use 15:2, 30:2 or poke them with a spoon, as long as it works.

nah, they just made it more simple thats all cos people were wasting time checking pulses etc.......you just keep going now til help arrives, no stopping to check signs, cos it wastes time when you could be pumping the air round
