Retro Arcade Tables: Anyone know owt about them?

My mate has got this old arcade machine table. It looks very much like the one on the right in this pic:

...only in better nick (not perfect though). It plays some sort of moon rescue/lunar lander game... We've been cleaning it up to sell. Thing is, it all powers on and works OK but we can't play cos although we know it's got an override button inside somewhere (to save putting 10p in), I can't find it  I've got pics of the internals at home (I'll post them later) but would anyone have a clue as to any forums or sites where I can find out more?

No idea regarding forums, etc.

If you get REALLY stuck, PM me for my bro's number (in Australia) . . . that was his game for 15 years . . . meat and veg to him ;)

Oh, cool :D

Chris... The cash box is in there, we've got 10ps and stuff but it's disabled (I'm useless with wiring) and we know for sure that there is a switch somewhere that triggers it instead. Can't bloody find it though
There should be an 8 pin dip switch on the board somewhere.

Here's the settings:

More technical stuff here:

http://www.coinop.org/kb_dl.aspx/KB/gametech/board pinouts/taito.txt

It's in the same cabinet as space invaders and uses the same basic cicuit boards. I've been hunting for info on these early Taito games for ages so I can fix my tabletop space invaders :D
I'm currently building a Bally Midway style arcade table like this to run MAME from a PC:

But it's being built out of recycled materials! The majority of the wood is from old wardrobes, shelving units, kitchen units etc etc. The PC is our old Windows 98-based unit. The TV was our old one as the sound broke on it (using a seperate amp anyway so it doesn't matter!) the PC to TV converter was £10 from Ebay.
The only thing I've had to buy new was the buttons and joysticks which were £22.

So all in all it's cost me £32 so far! Only other forseeable thing I'll need to buy is wood glue, screws and wood-effect fablon (going for the really cheap late 70's/early 80's fake woodgrain look!)

If it's the one where you have to fill in the screen with "squares/rectangles" without getting hit, that'll be Qix. Quite an addictive game.

Sure modern games might have the graphics but when I recently tried the "games room" (basically a load of PS2s) on a P&O ferry, not one of the games could I get into. I tried some really weird fantasy scoucerers and dragons type game, a flight sim and something a bit like Tomb raider and they were just needed way too much brain-power for me. I like a "pick up and play" game.
Old games are sooooooo good, DarrenW I bet you'll end up keeping it :D

I have an old IBM 5150 with a 20MB drive stuffed with ancient games - they are really addictive but the old CGA 4-colour graphics really burn your eyes :D
