Hi. I have a 1965 Swedish import 1300 Beetle which has been lowered using dropped spindles. It has ball joint suspension as its a very late 65 Beetle. It currently has BOGE Automatic Shocks 27-780-9. I find the drive is a bit hard so I'm looking to soften the ride. Are there shocks which will offer a smoother ride? rgds Gary

Just get the cheapest that you can find, Cofap etc will be fine and s bit softer, definitely not any gas shocks.
You Beetle will be a 1966 model if made after August 1965. This is important as there were many changes made.

I agree with Manxdavid, use stock oil-filled front shocks with your dropped spindles.
Has it been lowered at the rear too ?
If so, it could be riding on the rear bump stops, o, id iot is very low, could even have "bottomed-out" stock rear shocks. Either condition could account for the harder ride.
