shot blast is to heavy

i think you might be better getting it blasted with glass beads or sand blasted ( im not sure i would ask the blaster which he would use)

your best stripping everything out becasue the grit gets all over the place i used to get lambretta frames, part etc sand blasted and the blaster which i used would not do them if there was parts left on them i had to strip them down to the bare shells

Cheers i've had a few lammys blasted myself ..
just can't be bothered to strip the whole thing down..

was just worried about sand getting in brakes ,bearing's ect ?

lammys are easy to strip down and you can do em in your garage or
spare bedroom in my case ...
have no room in the garage to strip vw down..
because it's full of scooters ...
Personally I'd find somewhere that can acid dip it. There are places with big enough tanks. This will remove all the filler too and not rip holes in the body work.

Media blasting is better as shot can blow holes and even distort panels. And running gear off, tape any threads with gaffer as they will get mashed!
Had my 64 kombi media blasted a few weeks ago. The company used melemine plastic to blast it with, as this can be used at low pressure with virtually no heat created, so there is no risk of any panels warping due to the heat or the pressure. The melamine removes paint and fillers, but not rust, underseal or mastic like stuff, as it just bounces off. For that, they used an aluminium based media, which is more aggresive. Mine was a rolling shell - all glass and rubber out, all electrics out, engine etc. It was then covered in an etch primer, ready for paint. That was about 6 weeks ago, and it's been sat on my drive, covered with a just kampers breathable cover ever since, cause the guy doing the bodywork has been delayed. It's dry as a bone, and rust free! Didn't want to go down the acid dip route as you've got to strip absolutely everything off, where as with blasting, you can leave bits on. Most of the media is blown away out of the shell, but of the few bits remaining, it doesn't cause any problems as its plastic, and doesn't rust. Good luck with what you choose. :hangloose
