so looking about over the weekend at all the soaps, waxs, polishes, ect just couldnt decide which was the best to go for, also cleaning the interior (mainly headlining), good old soap and water or a specific cleaner?

I like Meguiars stuff. Pricey, but good quality.
I use Groom for the headliner and seats, foam stuff in a can, from Halfords and the like. For outside and windows I use Autoglym
I hate cleaning cars......pathological hatred.....

but the best stuff in the world ever, ever, ever is Pro-Long, Waterless wash and shine....get it off their web site.
Spray on and wipe off, for a really good shine another quick spray and polish, no need to wash it first with soap and water. It don't dry like wax so you don't get a white residue in cracks and body seams...it's really easy to wipe round (so elbow grease goes alot further) and it can be used on paint, chrome, plastic, leather, vinyl, glass etc....the surface is really "slippy" when you have cleaned and polished it and the more you use it the "slippier" it gets and dirt just don't stick to it... this is not bullshit either as any of you who have seen my A in the steel will know it never looks mucky....last year I cleaned it once, just before the Billing Fun Run and it was a mud bath..meaning it had to have a 5 min jet wash underneath and round the fenders....since then I have cleaned it once...for this years Billing Fun Run!!! For fucks sake I even cleaned 3 years worth of oil and road shit off the engine with it !....there is no need for 17 different cleaners for different surfaces..
If you don't believe me how good it is, if you see me at a show and I have the A with me, I will have a bottle in the boot and you can try it for your self.....you will then buy some, everybody I have shown it to is now a convert!

and trust me I hate cleaning cars..my record so far is 5 years without cleaning the daily

You need to get yourself a decent shampoo (autoglym do an OK one) and a lambs wool mit. If you're just going to be buying the stuff off the highstreet then I'd suggest the Meguiars 3 step system. I'd top it up with a decent wax though.

Autoglym super resin polish is pretty good too but I'd suggest a wax to go over the top to preserve the shine.

Car cleaning can cost a load of money, I have a garage full of polishes, waxes, sealers, quick detailers etc....ching ching!

the vinal cleaner you can get in halfords is good, and smells of lemons as well.

I find car cleaning/polishing quite therapeutic at times. It can be quite calming. Here's one I cleaned earlier.

You missed a bit :incheek:
i really like cleaning cars if either a) I'm getting payed for it or b) i've got a decent paintjob on my own car to warrent the time and effort. at the moment I leave it in the summer and in the winter it get's a jetwash underneath and in the arches to get the salt and roadshit off.. when it goes in for paint it'll be a wash, wax and polish as much as I can afford to do it :)

which site is that trust me i want to be a convert too, had the newbie super guarded and love it just clean with cold water and a sponge - brill
Can someone explain these waterless car wash systems to me? I don't mean how you do it....I get that bit...
But how the feck do you not scratch your paintwork to bits, I mean, if your car is dirty, you are just rubbing the dirt back into the surface, surely???

I got a leaflet on my windscreen a while back in the station car park for this; £20.00!  I don't think sooooo! A mini-valet is only a tenner!
my routine:

do the wheels first, and rinse out the arches etc.

rince car with lots of water from hose to get rid of grit etc. wash with car shampoo, rince off loads with water

let it dry, quick once over with a clean chammy or microfibre towel to stop water spots

polish with autoglym super resin polish (sparingly so you dont get white dust everywhere)

seal that with autoglym extra gloss protection, wait half hour then buff off

coat of collinite 845 or 476 wax, wait for it to haze over then buff off. sorted :)

I've painted my camper more times than I've washed it!:D

In the 5 years I have had my van it has been washed once and painted 3 times. I hate washing cars.

I'd love to have paintwork worth washing :( I let the rain wash it for me and my mum seems to have an obsession with cleaning the windows for me

When it's back to being a shiny Jeans bug it'll be looked after properly :)
i like meguiers but at the min i am using simoniz as it was on offer at b&q :) (its not bad)
