thanks moby, very usefull :D
How much power your box will take all depends how you drive it.

A stock box with stock axles should be good for 150bhp if you don't launch it, power shift or use an aggresive clutch.

The weak links are the diff, drive shafts and 3rd-4th syncros. And the box will probably fail in that order.

I broke a drive shaft many years ago with around 80-90 bhp nailing it off the lights.

But I know quite a few people running 120-130 bhp through a stock box, no problem, although they are not dragracing them.

thats excelent news because i'm putting a small subaru 1.8 turbo ,in my buggy and it is supposed to chuck out about 140 ish so the stock 1300 box thats in there should do for the time being providing i can be restrained

Depends on how it's driven (see last post) and also the weight of the vechicle it's fitted to. If you were to drag race it in a bus, you could probably break something with 70 - 80 bhp, but in a lightweight buggy or a rail, it would probably be good for 120 - 130 bhp ish doing the same drag starts.

It's torque that kills gearboxes, especially sudden (shock) torque.
