Rigt the engines gone in my 2.1 wasserboxer powered T25. How easy is the Gti conversion? what do i need? Diesel bellhousing, sump and crossmember? How easy is the plumbing/wiring? Anyone got the wiring diagrams?

Cheers

Think very carefully before doing it.

I just sold a van that had this "conversion" done to it and it's not as easy as it seems.

You will need the engine (obviously) and loom from your chosen donor plus all other ancillary sensors etc, and a diesel bellhousing from a t25 box. Make sure you get the lot, and i mean the lot.

Also put in your budget for a decent clutch, there are specialist items out there but you are talking in the region of £450 (ouch  ).

Also bear i mind that these engines run a fair bit hotter than your standard wasserboxer engine, i have a Golf Mk1 Gti and the temp gauge is always just above the middle around town, about halfway on the motorways so you can imagine what that's like in a van.

I'm not trying to put you off but just make you aware of the potential pitfalls, it's not as cheap or easy as you would first think.

Check out the alternate engines section on the club 80-90 forum for loads of advice.

Good luck ;)

OK, so lets start a parts list:

T25 Diesel Bellhousing
T25 Diesel Engine mount bar
Golf Diesel Flywheel/clutch
T25 Diesel Sump
Golf Gti engine (digifant or K jet??????)
Exhaust parts (to make an exhaust)

What else?

T25 input shaft,engine mounts,and brackets,header tank and hoses,dipstick and tube,starter.
Personally I'd go for an Audi derived motor, being longitudinally mounted in the Audi, the manifolds are better suited to the conversion.
Either a 1.8 K jet, 2.0 digi or a 16V would be possible.

Know nothing of golf GTI engins, but I had a MK2 passat with a 5 cylinder engine and it was quite simply the nicest engine I've ever encountered. Every time I bought parts for car at VW dealerships someone working there would always say "ooh - best engine VAG ever made that". They somehow managed to make it powerful, torquey as hell AND economical too. You can get a converter bellhousing from a company in South Africa where this engine swap is fairly common amongst T25 owners. Might be cheaper than golf gti engine and the 5 pot engines renowned for doing 250,000 plus miles without missing a beat.
