Yep, I think it would make for a nicer watch. An added bonus is that whatever bracelet you buy, it will probably be better than a Seiko one.

Harsh but fair! As much as I love a good bracelet I do also have a soft spot for janky ones tooYep, I think it would make for a nicer watch. An added bonus is that whatever bracelet you buy, it will probably be better than a Seiko one.

The bracelet on the Seiko I bought the other week feels very light and cheap. It looks good, but thin folded links I think are sub par for the brand. The bracelet alone on my Precisionist probably weighs more than the whole Seiko ensemble.

I’d have to agree. But sometimes folded links just work so well, particularly on older pieces.

Yes, perfectly acceptable on older watches, not so much on new respected brand models.
That's a pretty cool watch, btw.. Looks nice and tidy too. '60s, '70s?

May 1970. But I’m sure I’ve seen the range in the JDM catalogues before that.

I have a Cyma. They were later owned by Synchron who also owned Doxa and a few others.

The back of the case is marked Cyma Watch Ltd, I don't know if that gives a rough date. There is absolutely nothing on the interweb about this watch.

The pictures are tiny unfortunately… I expect the Synchron era is aligned with the quartz crisis and late in the Cyma tineline

Interesting. And a nice way of tracking two time zones. Quartz on the top movement too? It looks very 50s/60s dressy in black and gold.

Those are the seller's photos, I should be receiving the watch next week.
I still haven't managed to find any information on the web about this type of watch, I may have bought myself a dud. Then again, I may have found a rare watch.

Thought initially it might have been 50s with the styling but having done some cursory googling, I'd put it much later, particularly with the 'quartz' on the secondary dial.
The text in the Cyma logo is a modern typeface and the old logo was a C with a dot encapsulated in it. Watches with that style seem to be 90s from what I can tell.
I like the external appearance, its a classy dress watch which hints back at some really nice design periods. If I was more into gold watches I'd wear it on a formal occasion

I had chucked a super engineer bracelet on this but decided to boil the hard straps and curl them a bit to make them more comfortable, and now it's back on the rock hard z22 Seiko dive strap.

I dug this out today... a 60s Hamilton British Officer’s watch (army issued) - bought from the officer himself (a lieutenant) - now retired in Germany. He kindly included a personal letter detailing his ownership.
