Thumpers Wizard resto.

Taken the Wizard off the road for the winter, and have found a bit of welding to do :( Still, I could do with the practice

I've got a smooth dash to fit, as some chimp has cut the original one, with something as sharp as a lump hammer

A new hood is also in the loft, ready to fit, but I'll sort the rot out first, and then think about what colour to go with, as I am bored of the red.

It's actually a guard cat, as I can't afford a Thatcham approved alarm ;)

I have started the welding, but as I'm learning I'm going to let someone else tackle the Bottom of the door post. :)

Oh, by the way, thats seam sealer over the welded metal, not filler!!

Cheers Alex, like I said, still learning :)

I have decided to go with satin black, with a red interior, but I've got to clear some room in the garage, as welding outside is using up a load of gas, and the weather is beating me at the mo :(

Happy New Year all :)

Managed to do a bit of paint prep over the last few days, and stripped 5 layers of paint of the spare wheel :tick: ready to go to my friendly metal polishing guy :D

Spent a couple of hours with some wet/dry and a polishing mop, and voila, one spare wheel :) Also put a first couple of coats of paint on a few of the bits removed from the shell :)

Well, heres as far as I've got. Being a driveway/lockup resto, the current weather has really put a dampner on things :( but hey, progress is progress :)

Well, time/skill/inclination finally got the better of me  and I subbed out the welding for my Wizard. Bit peeved, as I would have liked to do as much of it as possible, but hey ho. Both posts/sill/front valence repair and wheel arch patched, now the fun of paint prep starts on the tub

Cheers Paulus,

The wheels are Torque Thrust/Crestline replicas. Very similar to those found on 60's Mustangs. There a steel rim, with an alloy face, and I've managed to aquire 6 of them so far :)

Spent this afternoon making good bits of the welding with a skim of filler, and then it's full on with the paint prep tomorrow :)

would'nt it look cool if there were two raised cone shaped 'thingys' running down the deck lid from the rear headrests?? (you know like the batmobile, '70s kinda stylie) or would the hood fixing get in the way? The rear seats look like they were made for the job....xcellent.
