Timing - vacuum hose connected or disconnected?

For timing a distributor with a single hose vacuum - should the hose be disconnected and blocked or left connected?

Then timing set to 7.5 BTDC at idle?

Hose should be off and 7.5 Degrees BTDC is correct.

cheers mate- its actually a 1500SP, but i guess its pretty much the same

Hose should be off and plugged or it probably won't idle ;-)
