All drivers must bring a valid DVLA Driving Licence to sign on. Drivers of soft-tops and cars quicker than 110mph will need to bring a crash-helmet.

Or . . . just sit in the Grandstands or on the grassy bank and watch the featured battle of the buses with BWA (Buses With Attitude) vs USB (Ultimate Street Bays) alongside other radical or daily driven Buses and Campers.

On Sunday things get serious on the Drag Strip with the VWDRC (Volkswagen Drag Racing Club) classes including VW Sportsman, VW Pro and VW Alternate Engine. This weekend will also be a championship round for the Hot Rods of Super Modified, Street Eliminator and Outlaw Anglias.

Look out too for the Fireforce Jet Car - the fastest Jet Car on the planet.

BWA Vs USB fire up lane will look something like this:

USB demolished the BWA in our last head to head match up (although erroneously reported in Volksworld as a BWA victory). We'll be looking to do the same again! :D

What kind of times are you running? And will you be having a heads up against BB this year?
BB keeps ducking me ;)

But as i'm commited to a full season with the VWDRC after last year's couple of guest appearances, i guess we'll meet up at some point on the startline.....

Heads up? yeah, why not. Would be good for the crowds. I'll ask him.:D

As for times, we ran an 11.4 last season, and will be aiming at some low 11 second passes early season (Thunderball and Big Bang) and then a rebuild in the short break along with a couple of mods that will have it into the tens.

Longer term, i hope to be troubling the lower half of the ten second bracket by the end of the season, and if funding allows, maybe a little quicker.

Good luck Chap,

you going on a weight saving mission?
Not yet ;)

I want to get both cars running properly and reasonably reliably, and get some time in the seat before we go for much more.

I think that there is a high ten in the car as it is seeing as i bunged it through the top end at Bug Jam on a closed throttle from hearing the crank pulley make it's bid for freedom and ran an 11.4 with a launch that could have been a lot more 'commited'

So, with a bit more traction from new Slicks, and a bit of practice i reckon that i'll be at least grazing the ten second barrier a few races in.

And then I'm planning some Water/Alky Injection to allow it to run more boost....

As it is, i know that i can lose a lot of weight out of the car if i need to, and once it starts hitting it's limits as it is then i'll have a look at that side of things.

I also have a feeling that it's a little under geared for a Turbo, the 118mph Terminal was at about 7000 rpm, and i'd cut it off as it was about on the limiter, so maybe a longer top gear to allow the Turbo to push it on??

Evolution not revolution as they say.

Indeed.....a crowd pleaser that would be!!! :D Not sure which car BB would be running? I love his 2276 powered bug but i know that runs in the 12.5/6's.

Most of us enjoy any type of drag racing, especially VW's, from the moment the vehicles start up....the tention of the pre-staging, the normally dramtic launches off the lights, to the close finishes at the other end.
Good luck with the venture this season, will be interesting to see how you and the car get on :)

P.S - Bit of competition for the OutLaws?? ;):D
