Seem to have an issue with the steering column centre shaft on my 1303 after rebuild of the entire column.
Put the original factory steering wheel back onto the colunn and there isn't enough of the splines showing to get the nut fully tightened.
What could be causing this and what is the solution please?

Loosen the two bolts under the dash and slide the outer column forward to the end of its adjustment (slotted bolt holes). If that’s too much and leaves a gap (>2mm) between the wheel & column, move it to set the gap correctly

Thanks for replying.
First chance today to look at the car again and column was already as far forward as possible. So not sure what the issue could be now!

Is it possible that the part of the inner column with the Universal Joints is preventing the inner column from going far enough up into the cab ?
Maybe try slackening the joint clamps and adjusting position.
