Whats that little inbuilt thing that makes you go the extra mile?

This is not going to be a Oh woe is me.... pity me thread BTW im just curious cos im a bit lost for the stuff at the mo.

Ive got loads of things to be greatful for..
A Wife who is bloody Lovely....on so many levels
I have a Roof over my head...not palatial but comfy
Couple of nice Cars.....not show winners but that aint my thing

and a little bit of Money in the bank to tide me over till i find what i want to do with my life (not loads but enough to get by and pay the bills if im careful)
but i dont aspire to a 10 bedroom house with a kitchen you could lose an Elephant in..... 19 Ferraris etc
Thats not me!
and im not the Party animal i was either ......been there done that lots and still have Kidneys thankfully ,but i had to knock it on the head cos it got a bit excessive:(
I seldom go out now to socialise

It seems i hit my Thirtys and ran out of steam and im here scratching my Arse going Hmmmm what next

So what gets you fired up?

Pretty much the same thing. If you want things in life you have to go and work for them, as no one hands them to you on a plate.

I am just about to move so the motivation of having a nicer/bigger place and a garage are the main thing keeping me going at the moment.

Life.
Seriously, I see a lot of people in a worse off state than most in my job, and it kind of reminds me how much I need to appreciate it.
Other than that, my kids, wife, home, any hobby and looking forward to the next toy.....whatever that maybe.

In the morning i have a cup of tea and a quick browse on VZi..

Reading a few threads get's me fired up and the thinking banks up to speed :D

Come an hour since waking up, i'm firing on all cylinders and ready to go do some LIFE :D

Never sure what each day will bring, but the main thing that keeps me running on nitro is knowing show season is just around the corner :hug::group:

Motorvation is the hardest thing to come by in my experience, I get motivated by the people i work with and people around me, totally lacking in both at the moment, need to find a work mate/employee me thinks.

I'm a Magpie . . . I like nice (shiny) things

Unless you're a tealeaf . . . you need to work to obtain said nice (shiny) things . . .

Simple maths really

I also like to at least try to make a 'difference' ;)

Pretty much the same, on a smaller scale ;)

At the moment i'm motivated by the desire to get myself and Prawstar into a house that is a better fit, and by the fast approaching racing season, and by the fact that i quite like my job and know that our product helps people.

But this year i need to step up a gear.

People are gonna see this as arse kissing...

But I don't care..

I look at people who have things I want.. like a family, kids, nice cars, and are involved and doing stuff..

One of those people even posted on here ;).

I want to be like that.. I want to make the money, get the work done, pay my bills, have time for my family, have a nice place AND have the toys.

I'm also not a theif, so I need to earn the folding to do it.

I think having something OTHER than work, and knowing that no matter how shit work is, you've got better at the end, that'll keep you going even in the worst of times.

stopping to think about how lucky i am.

i've got a job, a house, food and clothes. EVERYTHING else is a luxury. there's a free health service (which is far better than the papers would have us believe) if i ever get ill.

i work hard for what i've got and want to work hard for my future, my partners future and, if i ever have any, my kids futures.

there's always one thing you can do to make your situation better, no matter how small. it could be just tidying up round the house. once you start with the little changes, they accumulate to become big improvements.

i'm about to hit my thirties and i'm only just beginning. i set myself goals and challenges and work towards them. some of them small (lose a few lbs, save so much money every month) some of them a bit bigger (get a degree, climb all 4000 metre peaks in the alps.)

if you're unhappy about YOUR life - change it. it's YOUR responsibility. it's easy to forget that THIS IS IT. one chance. i don't want to end up a bitter old man with nothing to show for my life apart from sore eyes and a fat arse.

ooh, i went on a bit!

No arse kissing there.
People get inspiration to motivate themselves from all over.

Edit : oops! didn't read Francois Vans' post there......I'm messing all my posts up this morning

That there sounds like 'finishing fear' right there dude.

The feeling that if you actually finish a project, then someone (maybe even you) will judge it and it wn't come up to scratch?

So you aquire other 'projects' that allow you never to quite get to the finishing post, and therefore never have to confront the issues??

I know i do this a lot (A LOT)

Know your enemy eh? ;)
Yup and im my own worst enemy at that
Take for example i sprayed the Bottom half of my Bug someone sees it and goes "Cor thats a good job" then i have to tell them it was done in the open Air with a Fence sprayer and point out the couple of bits of grit and moisture blisters and im gonna flat it back and do it properly next year:lol:
When you think about it it was a triumph against adversity getting it done between showers with shit equipment on a shitty day.....
but am i happy with it ?
Like Fuck am I:lol:

Have i cut it back and polished it to finish it off nicely............wadda you recon?

motivation

Health, wealth & happiness.

Money is a huge motivator, but only with something which is fulfilling.

Motivation to help my family and people in general is also very high for me.

I'm a renaissance man all the way... I want to create things, help people and accumulate wealth at the same time.

I very rarely have any faltering in motivation... and if you said "you're just lucky" then you'd be wrong. You can learn to be motivated too...

I use goal setting as well. And write down my short term goals and where necessary I focus back on them.

I'll shut up now and get back to what I was doing. Not meant to be here today :D
