The way I see it.. you can either blow that tenner down the pub.. or put it towards your VW.

My mate in the next village earns pretty much the same as I do but isn't into VW's and asks me how I manage to find all the money to plough into my cars.

He goes out 4 times a week time socialising, buys new clothes every month, goes on holidays... oh, and he smokes.

I don't.

Agree with Ken and Brian.

Add to the list an evening job or a bit of parts trading to bring in the extra £ or two.

Having a list of what you want and buying it a bit at a time as funds allow ( set of wheels here, crank here, rods another month....)

Motivation and Enthusiasm too - eg can't afford to pay a welder to weld up that holey split - buy a welder, sign up at night school, take your own welder along and a pro will teach you how to weld with the gear you're going to use for the rest of your hobby.

Put your project money away in a sererate account/envelope/back of drawer. That way it doesn't get spent down the pub by accident.

Then they should all have pretty nice rides then!!.

I havn't spent a fortune and my vans alright. All I've got is reduction boxes and a 1600 engine but I love it to bits and when I have saved some cash I'll spend wisely.

;)
