does anyone have a pic or a diagram of a t25 coil set up ?????

i removed the engine and electrics etc for a rebuild and i forgot which wire goes where

i've 3 black and 2 green

1 green comes form the main loom
1 green gos to a random red (think it's been cut at some point)
1 black goes to the carbs (so thats a + on the coil)
1 black comes from a large black box
and 1 black comes from the main loom again

the bus is 1980 aircooled 20ltr

any help will be great cos i need it running for the bristol show next weekend ta :D

What is the large black box? Any terminal markings on it?

Does this distrib have plain old points ignition, or is it electronic?

the black box is like a large termainal box which just holds different connetions in side no marks on it (like a waterprof case really)

and it's elec not points but is an air cooled engine

(someone has messed around alot with the electrics in the past which i why i'm trying to find a diagram or pic before i refit or i could fuse the whole lot)

Sir:

I have hunted high and low (in the US) for exact info on your model
but have not come as close as I would prefer.

Best I could do is the electronic ignition used on '79 Bay vans
with fuel injection.
Download this:

Dist Send Unit is the Hall Effect sensor inside the distrib.
Ign Control Unit is the electronics.

See if this corresponds to what you have.

Maybe Moby will be along in the morning with further.

I can confirm that in the UK the type 25 with the 2 litre air-cooled (CU) engine had electronic ignition as standard. It also had a Idle Stabilisation Unit as well.

If you do have the Idle Stabilisation Unit mentioned by Clarkson,
it should have 6 connections (maybe the Black Box).

Post back and I'll try to include a scan or sketch of those connections.

The ISU has 2 3 pin connectors. All it does is the advance the ignition at idle as the electrical load on the engine increases eg. turn your headlights on. To time the engine it needs to be disconnected. Simply pull the 2 plugs out of the box and plug them together this will the prevent to box screwing up the timing as you adjust. I know this is slightly off the point but worth mentioning. I used to have one and it drove me round the bend until that last bit was explained to me.
