Wiring on a 74 bug

Hi,

just putting some finishing touches to the wiring on my bug, got some extra wires hanging around.

car has the test socket and has an alternator (factory fit) there are 2 additional unused wires coming out of the ign switch - grey (live when ign off) and grey / blk

also out of the wiper switch there are two brown / blu and another grey - both seem dead.

can anyone id these for me as to what they were for originally. they seem to make no affect on the car's system at present.

or... does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 74 bug but uk spec wiring, this seems very difficult to find.

The ign switch wires are probably for the door buzzer (USA), and the wiper wires are for an intermittent wash/wipe relay that can be fitted as an extra, or was probably standard on US models.
sorry been a prat - its the indicator stalk not the wiper one. can't find a column wiper stalk at moment would be good!!!

The Ignition socket /plug looks like:

As Moby noted, the Gray was for the door ajar buzzer.
Blk/Yell shuts off headlights/wipers with Ignition Off.
Perhaps this one is your Gry/Blk (faded).

The Indicator stalk wire colours are:

At a guess, parking lights then, if connected. With everything switched off you operate the indicators to select left or right parking lights, same as all later VW's. Not sure on the connection diagram without looking for one 'cos it's too modern for me.
thanks, that makes sense now. would love a diagram if you have one. this car now has quite a few electrical additions - would be rude not to include this!!
