wrong tinware, or air cleaner?

Could someone tell me if I have the wrong tinware? You will see below that the tinware nearest the opening does not fit, it actually is up by 2cm near the dipstick, and a couple of the bolt holes do not line up, so it actually isn't done up. Also, the air cleaner has an opening for another air pipe, but it doesn't have one fitted. There is not a hole in the tinware for the pipe to go through, and there's nothing for it to attach to anyway. The car was bought like this, and I'd like to get it all right. I read on another thread that the tinware should fit snugly. The car seems to run ok, though I'm having a few probs with idling, which I've improved, but I'm gonna get a proper distributor with the vacuum jobby to replace the 009 that's been fitted, hoping this fix with that problem.

The engine is a 1300, the car's a 1970 but I think it may be a reconditioned engine, and the engine no. starts with AB, if that's any help.

The car's been fitted with a turbo trip exhaust which I'm gonna replace with a standard exhaust, will that then have somewhere for the pipe from the air cleaner to enter?

Yes, you have the wrong rear engine tin. The correct one will sit lower and have the hole through it for the air hose to the air filter. The air filter is the wrong one too, you need a later type for a 1300 twin port. Would recommend you move that fuel filter/hose/pipe well away from the inlet manifold pre-heater pipe, and the number plate wiring could do with being secured properly so it doesn't get sucked into the fan.

OK, that's great, thanks. Now, can anyone tell me where I can buy the correct tinware, and airfilter?

And I will be moving the fuel pipe, I bought replacement pipe yesterday as I have a slight leak, so will use a bit more and route it upwards. Thanks so much for pointing that out, I hadn't thought about it!!
You could find both parts you need at show autojumble or try asking on Wanted on here. There's always used parts specialists like Megabug etc. Either 5 or 6 will do for the filter as long as they have working air valves in them.
gsf
