if you've just built it then there is a lot of water vapour in the materials. This time of year when its cold the air can't hold much moisture so ventilation is less effective than in summer. You could try heating but be careful of introducing too much moisture via parafin or lpg heaters. I would just allow it to dry out through natural ventilation, you will be in for a long haul.

A dehumidifier capable of taking water out of the structure will be huge to be effective so don't waste your money.

I think so, just did a bit of searching, appears the motor homes peeps are aware of this issue as they run dehumidifiers whilst not in use. General opinion is that sealed should be OK, but not sure myself.
Maybe . . . all the batteries on my cars (even the 'sealed' type) have ' breather vents' . . . maybe completely sealed types would be OK.

All I know is that they were all fucked - I even tried topping up with acid.

Interesting - will have to mention that to my old man, he runs a dehumidifier all winter in his boat

My shed is a substantial 8' x 10' one. I insulated it with 50mm Jablite and lined it with 4mm ply. It stays cool in the summer, much more pleasant to work in than my old one.

In the winter I use an 800w oil-filled radiator on it's frost-free setting. This keeps the damp out no bother without costing the earth to run. Easy to up the heat for a bit if I'm working in there, but with the insulation even having the lights on in there helps keep it warm.

A dehumidifier IMHO is only really necessary if damp is a real problem, and then only until the place is dried out and the source of the damp isolated and cured. Definitely not a long-term thing.

is it big enough to club you with ? :)
I don't know, Nobel won't answer my emails :(

Plan B for sea level change though - ships displace water, simply remove all the ships from the ocean... sea level goes down... Bill becomes global hero

I honestly don't know how I do it

id have thought that marine bateries would be most likley to be totally sealed, to stop things getting in as much as out ?
They really ought to be, but not all are by any stretch of the imagination - and as BB metnioned, even "sealed" batteries have breather tubes... I know the ones we sell do

So - who wants to buys some AGM, Gel or Lithium Ion batteries? :p
