oil light not on?

please help just serviced and mot'ed my 73 1300 beetle, and my oil light on the dash doesnt come on ignition. it used to come on all the time upto a couple of weeks ago, the cars running fine

any help gratefully recieved.. thanks guys..

Have you checked the bulb in the back of the speedo? It might just be something as simple as the bulb and holder has dropped out of the back (sometimes they are a loose fit)

Could be the oil pressure switch (on the left side of the engine, under the distributor - check the wire is in place)

Turn the ignition on, pull the wire off the oil switch, and hold it to a clean earth point. If the light then works, replace the switch. If it doesn't work, check the bulb and bulb holder.
