pretty sure you just had a duff coil matey...

There are several threads on here about "bad" Pertronix 1 coils.

I agree with Happystamps - you probably have a bad coil

 

so what...we saying that pertronix coils can just go pop for no reason at any time ?


this happened to anyone else


cant say i`m too happy at the prospect of a company supposidly selling good quality parts knocking out old tat that lets you down and has serious safety implications

anyone know who the pertronix distributer is in the UK ?

I dont think anyone had had one start to leak oil - (I would suggest that this could have been down to it getting very hot & the space with the "air" in it expanding & forcing the oil out)

There are several people (me included) that have had their Pertronix 1 coil just stop working. I have replaced mine with a Bosch one now.

 

Buy a Bosch.

 

i`ve replaced it with a bosch

i dont mind things that just stop working...well, i do, but this literally blew the HT lead off and then followed the oil from within, not a drip, more and explosion, oil was VERY hot

 

I had a coil lose all its oil a while back... it's wasn't a petronix one tho... I have no idea what make it was.

Took me ages to work out why the car would start, and then as soon as I started getting up to speed it would cut out!

The coil was shorting out with the engine vibrations.
