I have just found to different engine a 1.8 type 4 and 2.0 aircooled CU code. I was just wondering whether it is possible to fit either into Vw beetle. How hard would it be and is it worth it?

I have had a look around, people do say stay away from the vanagon CU code engines. Just wondering whether it is worth going for the 1.8. Iv found out that porches upright conversion needed and look into different clutch and flywheel. But is that all? no body mods?

Changes to be made:

1..Gearbox Input Shaft Pilot Bearing.
2..Cooling system conversion to fit the engine bay / or adjust the sheet metal around the engine bay to T4.
3..Modifications to exhaust to suite your taste (shorten the J tubes etc)

Google "Joe Cali" Re: cooling tins. You can use a Beetle fanshroud and stock T4 tin to make a good set-up that suits a Beetle.

As for CC's....2.0 litre is cool. Puts you way above the regular 'oversize' type 1 engines.

The enclosed breather cases cannot easilely be converted to any upright cooling system
The 2lt, altho larger displacement did not, IIRC produce any more hp than the 1.8, in my experience the. Hi power 1.8 is more common and would be/is a lovley conversion
